One of our group, Brian aka Dark Artist & Poet, writes poetry. He takes inspiration from his surroundings and writes at home away from the noise and creative chaos that is our group. Here is his poem ‘Sightless in a field of conflict’ written to accompany his paintings ‘A Stroll through Hades’ and ‘Gas’. You can view them together at the Royal Engineers Museum or here in this post.
‘Sightless in a field of conflict’
Can we, partially sighted, progressively losing our sight, truly understand those who have overnight lost all sight? We too are frightened, frustrated, but have gradually accepted our circumstances to a degree. You, plunged into a world of darkness in a foreign land, how much more frightened and alone you must have felt? We are all comrades in a shadow world, relying on others to be our eyes. Through our art we attempt to share your pain.
