Hello my name is Alison Lewis and over the years my photography has allowed me to meet and work with some wonderful people. When Wendy asked me if I would like to come along and see what she gets up to in one of her workshops for the KAB I really didn’t know what to expect. Apart from all of us been covered in paint, plaster and having fun making a big mess.
BBC South East’s Peter Whittlesea met us at the Royal Engineers Museum to interview us and film our exhibition ‘Through Our Eyes’. A big thank you to everyone who joined our celebration of ‘Through Our Eyes’ at the Royal Engineers Museum on Wednesday 6th May. What a great turnout and truly lovely to share our exhibition with so many friends and family – you could feel the joy! We hope you look after your thumb print mementoes – who knows whose thumb is now in your care.
The fantastic team at the Royal Engineers Museum, as always, looked after us with drinks, nibbles and speeches and had the great idea of an auction of the art at the end of exhibition. So a date for your diary – Friday 10th July – details to follow! Continue reading
Today we met at the Royal Engineers Museum to kick start 8 weeks of art-making, exploring and responding to the museum’s wealth of artefacts, if you can call a Harrier Jump-Jet or a section of the Berlin Wall artefacts. As a group we have been invited to collaborate with the museum and were warmly welcomed by Rebecca, Ross and the front of house team. With free reign to roam throughout the museum we gathered inspiration from Sweetheart badges to shell casings. Rebecca shared objects for handling, sparking all manner of conversations about our future exhibition “Through Our Eyes”.

We’ve made a great start to our latest art project. Xtina Lamb from Intra talked about print making and led us through the process of creating mono-types. An interesting time was had by all thinking in reverse, working out how to mask a print area and why we might do that, why we ink up a printing plate then ink up another plate? Continue reading
